Forever

Day 5: Friday, 28 November 2014

by Chloe Ong

Today we finally got to visit the Evangel Forever Home in Cape Town! We could not have been more excited! After hearing about the kids for ages and looking at their gorgeous pictures, it was so nice to finally meet the kids! The Home, of course, was beautiful, but the true beauty lies in the people in the home.

I got to speak to the House Parents here in the EFH! I was so blessed just by seeing how they loved and took care of the kids. It definitely isn't easy for anyone to be a parent in the first place, and they aren't even their own children, yet they treat each and every one of them as if they would their own. They are there with the kids almost 24/7 giving them so much love and care. It was truly amazing.

Baby Caleb

I remember Courtney showing me 1000000 pictures of him the night before we visited the home, and my heart just melts into a giant puddle with every picture. There is just something about him that has so much character and charm. Meeting him in person this morning? I'm telling you this 7-month-old bundle of joy was so full of energy, he would not stop bouncing up and down! He is such a chubby little baby boy and absolutely would not let us put him down! A heavy one too at that! I believe we all just fell so in love with him from the moment we stepped into the house. He is so adorable and cuddly, even when he threw up his lunch on some of us after all that bouncing, how can you not forgive that face? I wanted to take him home with me so bad!

Baby Lisa

Lisa is such a beautiful baby girl - inside and out. She was so amazing and there was just something about her that made my heart stop whenever she smiled at me with her big beautiful brown eyes. Also seeing so many pictures of her before and hearing about her countless times, I felt like I knew her so well, even before meeting her! She's so sweet and so precious. It was so incredible to hear that she came to this home only 4 days old and she's now 8 months! She's so healthy, glowing, and doing so extremely well. I knew from the moment I'd met her that we all fell in love all over again, same with Caleb. They were just such gems.

Unfortunately, we did not get to meet all of the kids as we were hoping to, but they needed more attention for the time being. The kids here at Acres of Love are truly cared for and given the best. Their House parents, Gerda, Ryan, everyone who has helped them in the journey back to recovery and a new beginning thus far gives so much to them. They are so blessed and such a blessing and testimony to everyone. There is indeed hope for these kids as we have given them one. We want love and care for them, just as how our parents would care for us. Just as how the Lord would care and has cared for us. And how he would care for us forever.
